How many people can play at the same time?

Snakebite Saloon (2-12) (Best with 4-8)
Kidnapper’s Revenge! (2-7)
Fortune Teller (2-8)

How long does it last?
Each event lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes a 15 minute introduction, 60 minutes in the escape room, and a 15 minute walkthrough after the event.
How much does it cost?
Our prices vary depending on the size of your group, but are generally between $30-40 for an average group depending on how many players you bring in. The bigger your group, the cheaper the cost is per player!. Check pricing here
Do you have discounts?
Tickets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays are $20 cheaper automatically for a regularly scheduled weekday booking. Events are cheaper per person when you bring a larger group. We also typically offer gift cards at 30% off during Thanksgiving weekend
Is it scary?
The rooms are not meant to outright scare you. The Kidnapper’s Revenge! Room is meant to be quite creepy, has tight spaces, and for a portion of the experience you will be restrained and in the dark. The Fortune Teller room is spooky but not very scary. Genie’s Lamp, Steampunk Airship, Snakebite Saloon and Arcade rooms are meant to be challenging but not scary at all. Game of Stones, American Revolution, and Candy Cane Conundrum are not scary at all.
How old do you have to be to do the escape rooms?
It depends on the room. The ARCADE and Snakebite Saloon rooms are appropriate for ages 8 and up. Genie’s Lamp room and the Fortune Teller room have difficult puzzles but can still be enjoyed by those 10 and up. The Steampunk Airship is intended for ages 12 and up for safety reasons. Children under 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult participant.
Kidnapper’s Revenge! is for 15 and up. Participants under the age of 15 WILL NOT be permitted in this room.
Children under 8 will not be permitted in most rooms. We do not provide childcare. In all the rooms, minors will need to bring a waiver signed by their parent/guardian.
Can I have my child's birthday party at the escape rooms?
Yes of course! But it is worth noting that even if a room says "8 and up" all our escape rooms are designed for older teens and adults. Though there may be content that is appropriate and accessible for a younger child to take part in the game, it will be incredibly difficult for a group of children to solve without significant adult assistance. We require one adult chaperone to be present for kids under 15, but the younger the children, the more adults we recommend to increase the chances of escape!
I'd like to schedule a special time for my work group/family/team builder. Is that possible?
Yes, we do occasionally schedule special events outside of our regular business hours but they must meet the following criteria: only groups of 8 to 53 participants; all special events run at full price (see our Pricing page); special events must be requested 2 weeks in advance to ensure proper staffing. Email info@portlandescaperooms.com with questions or to book!
Do you take walk-ins or do we need to schedule in advance?
We do not take walk-ins currently due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Escape room events must be scheduled online, bookings for an event close 2 hours prior to the event start time. If you don't see an event time that suits you, you can try emailing or calling us for more information.
Can I observe a room?
Generally the answer is no. But if you want to make a special argument, feel free to contact us at info@portlandescaperooms.com.
What happens if one of my group members is late?
We offer a 5-minute grace period after the event start time for groups that are running late. After that, we will begin deducting time from your event. It is up to you to decide whether to wait for your teammate and take the time penalty or begin on time without them. If groups are unreasonably late, the game will be cancelled. We do not refund for unused seats.
How early should we arrive for our game?
You should plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the scheduled event. If your group is late, we will either have to reschedule your booking, or begin deducting time from your 60 minutes to stay on schedule.
Am I really going to be locked in a room?
Yes! But not really. Each room has a way to get out that is unlocked in case of an emergency. Furthermore, there will always be a game master watching you in case your group needs assistance.
My 'friend' is claustrophobic. How big are the rooms?
This has not been a problem. Our smallest room is larger than a child's bedroom and is over 150sf. The Kidnapper’s Revenge! room has been renovated April 2024 and currently includes tighter spaces so the most claustrophobic participants might avoid that room.
Will there be other people in the room with us?
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, we currently ONLY offer private events and do not allow multiple groups to book into the same game time. This ensures a safe environment for both players and staff!
What should we bring with us?
You only need to bring your best wits and puzzle-solving ability. All items needed for solving the puzzles will be included in the room.
Are cell phones allowed?
Cell phone use in the escape rooms is not permitted. The use of electronic devices or outside tools are not permitted and you will immediately be asked to leave if you attempt to use them.
Do I need to be a rocket scientist to solve the puzzles?
Some of the puzzles are meant to be difficult, but you don’t need advanced science or math skills to succeed.
Can I do the escape room more than once?
You are welcome to do the room more than once, but the puzzles will only change if the room theme is changed. And we don’t want you spoiling the puzzle-solving fun for others on your team that might be doing it for the first time. Note that we have redesigned and renovated the Kidnapper’s Revenge! as of April 30 2024. So if you did that room prior to April 30 2024 then it is reasonable to come back and do it again as 90% of the puzzles have changed.
What happens if we don’t escape in time?
At the end of 60 minutes, the moderator will unlock the room.
What if we can't make it to our event?
In rare instances, rescheduling far in advance may be allowed. Rescheduling too close to the event date may incur a fee.
What if something comes up and we need to leave?
At any point you can ask the moderator to unlock the door and let you leave. You will not, however, be allowed back in the room.
I have a great escape room idea. Do you take suggestions?
Yes! We are always eager to hear your suggestions. Furthermore, we are also looking to collaborate on larger projects if you have skills to provide. We might also have a space to sublet you if you want to build your own escape room and run it at our next location. Contact info@portlandescaperooms.com with you suggestions/proposals.
Do you have a party room?
Although we don't have a dedicated party room, there are several places nearby that would be great for a birthday party! In the past, customers have walked to restaurants across the street (Mongolian Grill, Pizzicato, etc) from the Beaverton Location, or done a short drive to other nearby restaurants at the Portland Location.
